Preparation
When having blood taken, proper preparation is crucial for high-quality and reliable results. It is important that you follow the instructions of your doctor or general practitioner carefully.
If the form states ‘fasting’, you must not eat, drink, or smoke for 8 hours before the blood sample is taken (a sip of water to take medication is allowed).
Prikcentrum Maenhout opens at 7h30 a.m. so that you do not have to fast for so long. Make an appointment here to reduce waiting times.
Testing and results
Your blood will be tested at the Labo Maenhout laboratory. Various tests are available. Your doctor will decide which tests are necessary, possibly in consultation with laboratory experts.
Will I be reimbursed for everything?
Laboratory tests are largely reimbursed in Belgium through your health insurance fund. The amount you pay varies depending on the number and type of tests.
